In the heart of the Okavango, luxurious Jao is set amongst islands fringed with riverine forests and vast, floodplains with prolific wildlife. The camp (rebuilt in 2019) comprises a main area elevated into the tree canopy, two exclusive villas and five twins all with private plunge pools, lounge and dining areas, and en-suite bathrooms, including indoor and outdoor showers. The two Jao Villas, accommodating four people each in two identical guest rooms, share a main area, and also have an exclusive vehicle, guide, chef and butler.

Vumbura Plains Camp

Luxurious Vumbura Plains lies in an area that is a mix of water and dry land. The wildlife is diverse, so that both land and water activities on vehicles, mekoro and boats deliver an all-round African safari experience. Vumbura Plains comprises two separate but linked camps, consisting of a total of 14 raised, spacious rooms, unique and contemporary in design with indoor and outdoor showers and an en-suite bathroom.

King's Pool Camp

Steeped in nostalgia and named for Scandinavian royalty, newly-renovated and elegant King’s Pool overlooks the handsome oxbow lagoon of the same name in the Linyanti Wildlife Reserve, bordering Chobe National Park and at the crux of the important wildlife corridor that straddles Angola, Namibia, Zambia and Botswana. This 100% solar-powered camp has eight luxurious thatch and canvas rooms, each boasting a large bedroom area and lounge leading to a veranda that soaks up the gorgeous views. The river along which King’s Pool is located hosts numerous species of birds and is a magnet for game, especially elephant, in the dry winter months.

Itinerary

Days 1 to 4: Okavango Private Concession

Jao Camp

You will be met at Maun Airport and your charter flight to Jao will take around 40mins which takes you over the southern floodplains of the Okavango with those views you always see in documentaries. Once you arrive in camp they will show you around and once you're settled in you can take part in an afternoon activity. the Jao flats are famous for their shallow floodplains and you have a great chance to see Giraffe and other wildlife moving through these vast areas.
Predators here include Lions, Leopard, African Wild Dog and Spotted Hyena with other cats being in the area but difficult to see, as they always are. Activities include mokoro, walking safaris and day and night game drives.

Days 4 to 7: Okavango Private Concession

Vumbura Plains Camp

After a morning activity you will fly to Vumbura taking around 15 mins with stunning views of the Okavango and Chief's Island. The Vumbura (or locally known as Kwedi) concession is truly superb with some of the best wildlife in Africa with both land and water activities available. This are is known for its Sable Antelope population and your ability to get close to them, which is very difficult nearly everywhere else. The Motorboat cruises in this area are particularly good with many remote islands to explore and give a great view of what the Okavango is about.

Days 7 to 10: Linyanti Private Concession

King's Pool Camp

After a morning activity you will fly to King's Pool taking around 35 mins with stunning views of Chobe. The Linyanti area is excellent and King's Pool Camp looks out over an oxbow lake with its resident Hippos serenading you throughout the day. The Private concession has some of the best wildlife in Linyanti with huge herds of Elephant in the dry season and large Buffalo herds moving through the riverine Mopane forests.
Lions are regular seen here along with African Wild Dog, the nature of the ecosystem makes seeing Leopard a little more difficult as they have many more places to hide but there are plenty there.
