Accommodation

Baines' Camp

Named after the 19th century explorer and painter Thomas Baines, this is Sanctuary's smallest camp with just six suites. An eco-friendly property built using only commercially grown wood, with over 150,000 recycled aluminium cans incorporated within the walls to provide insulation.

The camp is raised above the permanent water of the Boro River while wooden walkways connect the main areas and luxury rooms. The swimming pool and the wide wooden deck that surrounds the main dining and sitting room is the ideal place to relax while observing the varied wildlife present here. Watch hippos wallow at the edge of the lagoon that the camp overlooks, or see one of the many elephants who live in the area.

Chief's Camp

This award-winning camp re-opened on 1st June 2016 after an extensive rebuild and redesign. The 10 bush pavilions and luxury suite are some of the largest in the area (141 - 620 m2) and each feature a private dining area, a tranquil outside seating area and a terrace pool – all perfect for absorbing the surrounding plains and majestic African skies.

Sanctuary Chief’s Camp’s sophisticated accommodation with natural hues and materials that complement the charismatic scenery and the first-class dining and wines, regularly earns rankings among the world’s top safari destinations from arbiters such as Condé Nast Traveler and Travel & Leisure.

Chobe Chilwero Camp

Sanctuary Chobe Chilwero is a luxurious riverside retreat in the heart of the bush, with all of the facilities of a larger resort. The main area commands fabulous views over the Chobe River which borders Chobe National Park to the north.

As well as the elephants for which the park is famous for. Guests can relax in the split-level swimming pool, unwind with a pampering session in the spa or enjoy the gourmet food that the lodge has become known for.

Itinerary

Days 1 to 4: Okavango Private Concession

Baines' Camp

You will be met at Maun Airport and your charter flight to Baines' Camp will take around 20mins. This beautiful camp lies at the southern end of the Okavango largest island, Chief's Island in its own private area allowing activities such as walking safaris and 'off-roading' as part of the offering not available inside the national parks.
This concession offers both water and land activities with permanent waters attracting large numbers of game. Along with the permanent waters comes certain species that are iconic to this area and difficult to see such as the Sitatunga Antelope that lives only in the permanent water areas. The Land areas here also offer fabulous opportunities for game viewing both in their excellent vehicles and on foot with specially trained guides. Overall this area is one of the best.

Days 4 to 7: Moremi Game Reserve

Chief's Camp

After a morning activity you will fly to Chief's Camp taking around 25 mins with stunning views of the Okavango and its surroundings. Chief's Camp lies on the Island itself and inside the Moremi Game Reserve which restricts the activities available, but don't let this put you off as this is one of the most game-rich areas of Africa, not just Botswana and coupled with one of the most luxurious lodges, it is well worth a visit.
An area known for its Rhino population after a very successful re-introduction program this is one of the few places you can see them in a genuinely wild location.
This is not all, though, with regular sightings of African Wild Dog, Lion, Leopard and the occasional Cheetah, there are few places that can compare. For the safari connoisseur this camp is simply a must.

Days 7 to 10: Chobe National Park

Chobe Chilwero Camp

After a morning activity you will fly to Chobe Chilwero through Kasane Airport taking around 55 mins with stunning views of the Okavango and Chobe. The Lodge itself sits on an escarpment overlooking the mighty Chobe River which is part of the greater Zambezi River system. This camp and area provides an experience that you can't get in the Okavango with the river being so large the Elephant numbers in particular are incredible. Here you can experience congregations of wildlife seen in few other places as they move back and forward to the river front.
Activities here include game drives but the motorboat cruises are a real highlight as the wildlife comes to drinks at the river bank and occasionally cross. On your final day you will be taken to Kasane Airport for your trip home or an onward journey to Victoria Falls.
