Botswana Desert & Delta Safari

An excellent mid-range Luxury Safari featuring Desert, Delta and Savuti in iconic locations. With superb lodges, stunning wildlife and incredible activities, you won't be disappointed.

Featuring three of Botswana's longest established camps within their famous National Parks, this is a complete journey through all of this vast country's ecosystems.
You first location is the Makgadikgadi Pans National Park on its western boundary. This area gives you a taste of the Desert as you cross the seasonal Boteti River to explore inside the National ark with the chance to see Rhino (re-introduced some years ago), Lion, Elephant, Oryx, Springbok, Leopard and in particualr large herds of Zebra. This area is the ultimate destination of the Zebra migration that comes from the Chobe River region in the far north.
Your second location in the iconic Moremi Game Reserve brings views out over the famous Okavango Delta and the permanent Xakanaxa Lagoon. This area, however, is not exclusively water with some of the best wildlife in Botswana with regular sightings of Lion and Leopard and one of the best places to see African Wild Dog. With water and land activities here in a lodge overlooking the lagoon, this is always a highlight.
The final destination is the Savuti area of Chobe National Park. This area was made famous by the Elephant-eating Lions that when all else fails they will take on these huge animals out of desperation and hunger but Savuti has much more with Leopards known to fish and huge numbers of Giraffe, Zebra and Buffalo.
Activities include Motorboat Safaris, Game Drives, Mekoro and Walking Safaris. This fully-inclusive fly-in safari is one not to forget.

Accommodation

Leroo La Tau Camp

Leroo La Tau is situated on the western bank of the Boteti River, northwest of Khumaga Village and about 140 kilometres southeast of Maun. The eastern bank of the Boteti forms the boundary of the Makgadikgadi Pans National Park, which stretches away from the riverbank towards its interior of scrubland and mineral-rich grasslands.

Camp Xakanaxa

The prime location of Camp Xakanaxa (pronounced Ka-ka-na-ka) on the banks of the Khwai River on the Xakanaxa Lagoon, in the heart of the Moremi Game Reserve, makes it one of the very few safari camps that offers guests an authentic, year-round Okavango Delta land and water safari experience.

Savute Safari Lodge

To ensure a private and relaxing environment, Savute Safari Lodge accommodates just twenty four guests in eleven thatched chalets built of local timber and one family room which consists of two double bedrooms. The chalets, which have been elegantly furnished in calm neutral tones to blend with the natural environment, feature expansive private decks, a combined bedroom and lounge area and en suite facilities.

Itinerary

Days 1 to 4: Makgadikgadi Pans National Park

Leroo La Tau Camp

On arrival at Maun International Airport you will be met by a representative with your name on a welcome board. They will assist you to your aircraft for your flight to Leroo La Tau Camp from which you can see the flat salt pans of the areas south of Maun. You will arrive in time for a late lunch or early tea and once you are settled you can go out on your first activity and if the Boteti River is flowing you will cross to your game drive vehicle in a boat.

Days 4 to 7: Moremi Game Reserve

Camp Xakanaxa

After a morning activity in Leroo La Tau your flight to Xakanaxa will take about 1 hour and you may have up to three stops on the way and stunning views of the southern Okavango are a highlight, so don't forget to keep your camera handy. On arrival your guide will collect you and take you to camp where management will show you the camp and explain the daily routine, which you will already be used to in any case. An afternoon activity is a great chance to explore the incredible Xakanaxa Lagoon and explore the Okavango in its full glory but during your stay you also have the chance to game drives and Mokoro safaris. This is a stunning area.

Days 7 to 10: Savute, Chobe National Park

Savute Safari Lodge

After a morning activity on your final day in Xakanaxa you will fly to Savuti which will take around 30 mins and while you have the possibility of some stops on the way, on this route it is unlikely. The flight will give you stunning views of the eastern Okavango and southern Chobe National Park with its huge open areas that you don't really see in the Okavango. The Savuti area is known for its vast grasslands and here the possibility of seeing something different is great with Cheetah frequenting the area but it is well known for its Spotted Hyena and Lion and the battles between them. Roan Antelope are a regular sighting here, something you won't see elsewhere on this trip with the chance also to see Eland. Activities here are restricted to day game drives due to its location inside the national park but this in no way detracts from the experience as the wildlife is truly incredible. After an activity on your final morning your flight will get you back to Maun for your international flight home.
