Seba Camp

Private Abu Concession

Luxury Family

From US$989

Lodge Description

Seba runs on various green operating systems, including 100% solar, to ensure as light an environmental footprint as possible.

Seba is set in a wildlife wonderland overlooking a perennial lagoon. Its riverine situation in a forest of majestic hardwood trees plays host to prolific birdlife, while on the concession a variety of land and water game-viewing activities ensure that Seba delivers a classic Okavango Delta safari experience.

In the south-west of the Delta, the scenically splendid 180 000-hectare (445 000-acre) Abu Concession varies from seasonally inundated floodplains, channels and palm islands in the north-east to the dryer Kalahari ‘Sandveld Tongue’ in the west. Here trees like Kalahari appleleaf and silver terminalia dominate, adding much contrast to this unique area. Big game includes frequent sightings of giraffe, buffalo, elephant, red lechwe, blue wildebeest, tsessebe, impala, zebra, hippo and warthog. Dominant carnivores include lion and spotted hyaena with occasional leopard and wild dog. For bird enthusiasts, some 380 different species can be found.

The Seba area is known for its large elephant population. In addition, unlike the permanently inundated areas of the Okavango Delta, the habitats around Seba vary greatly, allowing for an abundance of general game viewing, including giraffe, zebra, antelope such as impala, tsessebe, lechwe and wildebeest, and buffalo and warthog. Leopard are common, and hyaena and African wild dog are also regularly seen, while a number of lion have moved into the area, and can sometimes be heard roaring at night.

Eight luxury tents include two designed for families, with interconnecting bedrooms and plunge pools. Access the bush by game drive, mokoro or guided walks, or join your children for a bush cooking or photography lesson.
