Tafika Camp

Tafika Camp’s location on the east bank of the Luangwa River, north of the Nsefu Sector of the South Park, makes it ideal for those who enjoy the serenity of the bush. Here, exceptional game viewing is combined with exciting activities including daily day and night drives, mountain bike safaris, walking safaris, visits to the local Mkasanga Village and microlighting in May (only offered in May). Tafika also has two hides which offer the opportunity of game viewing in-between activities. Hides overlook the camp waterhole which is frequented by herds of elephant, bushbuck, puku, impala, mongoose and several bird species.

Chikoko Trails

Chikoko Trails incorporates two small and exclusive bush camps, Chikoko Tree Camp and Crocodile River Camp, from which unparalleled walking safaris are offered, strolling from camp to camp. Located on the west bank in the South Luangwa National Park, a few kilometres upstream from parent camp Tafika, Chikoko and Crocodile are only accessible on foot and offer a fantastic bush experience – being immersed in the idyll of remotest Africa.

Mwaleshi Camp

Mwaleshi Camp, located in the vast wilderness of North Luangwa National Park, is a 40 minute flight from Mfuwe Airport. Hidden within a scenic bend of the Mwaleshi River 10km upstream of the confluence with the Luangwa River, the camp is a truly special and remarkable place. There are few roads in this remote area and the majority of activities are done on foot, following existing animal trails. All senses become attuned to the surrounding bush as guests experience the variations in the magical diversity of the area.

Itinerary

Days 1 to 4: South Luangwa National Park

Tafika Camp

You will be met at Mfuwe Airport and your guide will take you to Tafika Camp. Depending on your time of arrival you can do a game drive after you have settled in, arriving back in camp just after dark for dinner. Wildlife in the Nsefu sector is simply incredible and this area has very few camps so you are likely to have sightings to yourself. Activities include guided game walks and game drives. The food and service is excellent and you will have a fantastic time here.

Days 4 to 7: South Luangwa National Park

Chikoko Trails

After a morning activity you will transfer to Chikoko Trails to either Crocodile Camp or Chikoko Tree Camp and you will change camps part way through your stay, depending on the movements of the wildlife. Chikoko Trails is a guided walking adventure camp with two locations and this one of the most remote and exciting things you can do in Africa. Zambia has pioneered the walking safari and you are in the hands of some of the best and most experienced walking guides available. The camp itself is still very nice indeed and the food and service is as good as anywhere else.

Days 7 to 10: North Luangwa National Park

Mwaleshi Camp

On your final day in South Luangwa you will be transferred to Lukuzi Airstrip for your transfer flight to North Luangwa and Mwaleshi Camp, a flight that takes about 25 mins. One of the least visited areas of southern Africa, North Luangwa is truly remote and your experience here will be second to none. The wildlife is excellent and the food and service superb, added to the incredible activities and superb guides it will definitely be a stay to remember. On your final day you will fly back to Mfuwe airport in time to connect to your flight to Lusaka.
