Accommodation

Kafunta River Lodge

Kafunta River Lodge is a classic Zambian safari lodge, combining all the essentials for a great safari, including its spectacular location at the edge of the floodplain. Beyond the plain, lies the Luangwa River - one of the best game viewing areas in the magical South Luangwa National Park. This is indeed the premier park in Zambia and one of the best national parks in all of Africa. The lodge was fully renovated in 2019 and offers a relaxed atmosphere and great attention to details. We love what we do and we can’t wait to share this with you!

Island Bush Camp

Set under the shade of ancient mahogany trees on the banks of the Luangwa River, our authentic Zambian bush camp is the gateway to one of the most remote and unspoilt areas of South Luangwa National Park. Island Bush Camp offers a pure wilderness experience with walking safaris at the core of its activities. You will have the park to yourself!

Three Rivers Camp

Three Rivers Camp is the latest addition to this portfolio and is set at the confluence of the Luangwa, Kapamba and Lusangazi Rivers in South Luangwa, Zambia. The stylish tents sit under shady sausage trees facing the Luangwa River on the game-rich lagoon. Three Rivers Camp is the first camp to be established on the border of the Malama Chiefdom and the national park. Its location is simply spectacular. The rooms are set far apart with the wildlife passing through camp.

Itinerary

Days 1 to 5: South Luangwa National Park, Kafunta River Lodge

Kafunta River Lodge

The first days are spent at Kafunta River Lodge, which offers the opportunity to discover the game rich Mfuwe area. Game viewing activities at Kafunta River Lodge include game drives in open vehicles along with unique night drives which offer the opportunity to view nocturnal animals. The central location of Kafunta River Lodge allows us to explore vast areas of South Luangwa National Park. While at the lodge, you can relax on the privacy of your viewing deck, or by taking a swim in the infinity pool while keeping an eye on the elephants drinking at the waterhole. The lodge also features the only natural hot spring tub of Mfuwe, an intimate wellness spa as well as a small gym.

Days 5 to 6: South Luangwa National Park, Island Bush Camp

Island Bush Camp

A 2 1/2 hour drive from Kafunta River Lodge, heading south through remote wilderness, will take you to one of our bush camps. Three Rivers Camp is ideally located between the Luangwa River and a wildlife-rich lagoon. The camp features 5 sumptuous tents decorated in earthy tones, each with a private viewing deck and separate platform where you can choose to sleep out at night. The en-suite bathroom offers the choice of an indoor or outdoor shower.

Days 8 to 9: South Luangwa National Park, Three Rivers Camp

Three Rivers Camp

Island Bush Camp offers rustic open-sided huts built on stilts that ensure safety from wild animals while providing an unlimited view of the Luangwa River. Each of the 5 chalets has its own en-suite bathroom, with running water, flushing toilets and hot bucket showers. The camp is perfect for walking safaris. Returning to Kafunta River Lodge, you spend the last part of your safari in the comfort of the lodge where you are able to participate in more game drives.
